Mitt Romney and Mormonism
With Governor Mitt Romney as a likely United States Presidential candidate in 2008, I think this video is helpful in introducing others to some of the claims of Mormonism.

Yep, seer stones sure are weird...
He [Moses] put upon him [Aaron] the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod upon him, and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod, and bound it unto him therewith. And he put the breastplate upon him: and in the breastplate he put the Urim and the Thummim. (Leviticus 8:7-8)
amazing what those crazy Mormons will come up with. What'll it be next? Baptism for the dead? (John 3:5 and 1 Cor 15:29) Mankind being Exalted? (Matthew 5:48 and Romans 8:17) Jesus preaching to the spirit world? (1 Peter 3:20) Continued revelation? (Amos 3:7) God having a physical body? (Exodus 33:11)
You're right, there's no Biblical basis for these doctrines...
Bob,
All one has to do is actually seek to understand these verses in their context to see that they do not ground Latter-day Saint teaching.
By the way, to learn more about Joseph Smith's seer stone and the Urim and Thummim, see this article from the Institute for Religious Research.
