Emergent's (Anti-)Doctrinal Statement
Tony Jones, the National Coordinator of Emergent-U.S., has just posted a response on their blog to those who would like to see an Emergent doctrinal statement: "Doctrinal Statement." It was written by LeRon Shults and essentially argues against using doctrinal statements.I would love to interact with this statement in-depth, but I have the end of the semester and finals to deal with right now. Maybe I'll be able to take Shults' claims up in the future. Regardless, if you want to see what the Emergent folk think about doctrinal fidelity, you'll want to check this blog post out.

Wow. So apparently Jesus died to enact transforming communities.
Tony Jones, eh? He actually commented on one of my posts, once, to say that I was "just plain wrong" (IIRC)about some of my assertions regarding Emergents.
It's spun around in my head ever since, as it is quite beyond me how people who deny certainty can proclaim anyone else to be wrong.
